Quick answer

Every inch your head moves forward adds strain to your neck and upper back. Small daily changes make a big difference. Flagler Chiropractic is at 1240 S. Oceanshore Blvd., Flagler Beach, FL — call (386) 439-9001.

What “tech neck” is

Looking down at phones and laptops for hours pulls the head forward and rounds the shoulders. Neck and upper-back muscles overwork, joints stiffen, and headaches and pain follow.

Set up your workstation

  • Top of the monitor at or slightly below eye level
  • Screen about an arm’s length away
  • Elbows near 90°, shoulders relaxed
  • Feet flat, hips slightly above knees; support your low back
  • Laptop users: add a stand plus an external keyboard and mouse

Move every 30 minutes

The best posture is your next posture. Stand, walk, and try these micro-breaks:

  • Chin tucks — glide your chin straight back, hold 5 seconds, repeat 10 times.
  • Shoulder-blade squeezes — squeeze back and down, hold 5 seconds.
  • Doorway chest stretch — 30 seconds each side.

How chiropractic helps

Adjustments to the neck and mid-back restore motion so better posture feels natural, not forced. See neck pain relief and headaches, or call (386) 439-9001.
